What to do 4 days in London

Day 1: Exploring London’s Landmarks and Afternoon Tea

London is known for its iconic landmarks, and no trip to the city would be complete without a visit to some of the most famous ones.

To start your day in London, consider purchasing a hop-on-hop-off Big Bus Tour online, which allows you to redeem it at any of the stops. This tour offers audio commentary and takes you to famous landmarks. When you’re near Big Ben, you can hop off and enjoy a Thames River cruise, which is included in your Big Bus Tour ticket or can be purchased separately.

One of my favorites of a trip to London is watching the Changing of the Guard ceremony, which happens every day in the summer and every other day in the winter. If you want a guided walking tour for the ceremony, this is also included in your Big Bus Tour ticket.

After your morning exploring the city’s landmarks, indulge in a quintessentially British experience: afternoon tea. Many hotels and restaurants in London offer this traditional pastime, where you’ll enjoy a pot of tea and a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and various pastries and cakes.

During our visits to London, we were fortunate enough to experience Afternoon Tea in the Diamond Jubilee room at Fortnum and Mason in Piccadilly. It’s a grand and luxurious experience, perfect if you want to experience some English traditions.

Before you indulge in your British tea experience, it’s important to understand the tradition of Afternoon Tea and the difference between Afternoon Tea and High Tea. Most of the time what you’re looking for is Afternoon Tea which originated with the upper class and consists of small sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and sweet pastries, served with a pot of tea.

High Tea, on the other hand, is a more substantial meal that originated in the working class. It was typically served later in the day, around 5-6 pm, and included more filling dishes like meat pies, quiches, and other savory items. High Tea got its name from the fact that it was served on a higher table or counter, making it easier for workers to enjoy their meal while standing up.

Knowing the difference between Afternoon Tea and High Tea is important when planning your tea experience in London, as many places offer both options. It’s also important to note that there are different types of Afternoon Tea, such as Champagne Afternoon Tea and Cream Tea, which typically includes scones with clotted cream and jam but no sandwiches or pastries.

Day 2: Discovering Hidden Gems in London and Catching a Show

Visiting London’s must see landmarks is not all there is to do. You’ll want to fit in some spots that don’t often make it into guidebooks but are loved all the same.

Neal’s Yard – is located in Covent Garden. It’s a colorful and vibrant courtyard and a great place to grab a coffee or lunch and some unique shops.

Leadenhall Market – is a market dating back to the 14th century. It’s a great place to admire the stunning Victorian architecture. There’s a variety of shops and restaurants, and it’s a popular filming location for movies and TV shows.

Kyoto Garden – in Holland Park is a Japanese-style garden and traditional Japanese architecture. It’s a great place to relax and take in the beauty of nature.

Barbican Conservatory – is a hidden tropical oasis located inside the Barbican Centre. Tickets are free and released one week in advance online.

After a long day of exploring the city, what better way to unwind than by catching a show in London’s iconic West End? You can find the best deal on tickets at the TKTS booth. Here, you can score discounted tickets for shows on the day of the performance.

Day 3: Taking a Relaxing Stroll in London’s Parks and Gardens

London is a city that is constantly buzzing with activity, but sometimes, you need to take a break from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some quiet time. Luckily, there are many beautiful parks and gardens where you can take a relaxing stroll and enjoy the fact that you’re in London!

Hyde Park – It’s one of the largest parks in London, and it’s the perfect place to go for a peaceful stroll or have a picnic. You can also take a boat ride on the Serpentine, the park’s central lake, or visit the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain.

Regent’s Park – is known for its stunning rose gardens, which are in full bloom during the summer months, and its boating lake. You’ll find the London Zoo here as well.

Hampstead Heath – is one of the largest green spaces in London and offers stunning views of the city skyline.

Kew Gardens – is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to some of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world. You can also visit the iconic Palm House, which has the world’s rarest and most exotic plants.

Day 4: Take a Day trip from London

If you are itching to venture out of London, why not try a day trip adventure?

Stonehenge – One of the most popular day trips from London is a visit to the prehistoric monument of Stonehenge.

Oxford – This historic university town is just an hour from London by train. It’s one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities, which produced famous alumni such as J.R.R. Tolkien, Lewis Carroll, and Stephen Hawking. There are many great pubs, restaurants, and shops as well.

Bath – Located in the southwest of England, Bath is famous for its Roman Baths and Georgian architecture. You can visit the Roman Baths and the Jane Austen Centre.

Brighton – This seaside town is just an hour away from London by train and offers a famous pier, quirky boutiques, and a laid-back vibe.

Cambridge – Another historic university town, Cambridge is an hour away from London by train. You can explore the famous colleges, go punting on the River Cam, and enjoy the beautiful parks and gardens.

Windsor – Home to Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, this is a short train ride from London. You can explore the castle, take a stroll along the Thames, and enjoy the quaint shops and cafes.

Is it worth going to London for 4 days?

Whether or not 4 days is enough time to see London depends on your travel plans and interests. You’ll have enough time to see the famous landmarks, explore some of the hidden gems, sample the local cuisine, and even catch a show in the West End.

However, to make the most of your limited time, I recommend purchasing a Go City London pass. This pass offers several sightseeing options at a discounted price and can simplify your planning process.

And my favorite and most convenient way to see a new city is by purchasing a Big Bus tour ticket which includes a cruise on the River Thames. The bus and river tour tickets can also be included in a Go City London pass.

Should you spend more time in London or Paris?

Deciding between London and Paris can be a tough call as both cities have a lot to offer and are worth exploring for several days.

If you’re interested in history, theater, and a diverse cultural scene, London may be the better choice. If you’re looking for a romantic atmosphere, incredible food, and stunning architecture, Paris might be the way to go. While London has a lot to offer, its weather can be a downer so at least be prepared for that. Paris has more months of nicer weather.

Ultimately, the choice between London and Paris boils down to you and what you have your heart set on seeing during your visit. Personally, I find Londoners to be friendly and helpful when it comes to navigating the city, which can make for a more enjoyable travel experience. But the beauty of Paris is truly unlike anything else in the world. The Eiffel Tower is breathtaking and the city has an irresistible charm and elegance.

Regardless of which city you choose, I’m sure you’ll have an incredible adventure and create memories that will last a lifetime. So, there’s no need to worry – you really can’t go wrong with either choice! Check out my other posts on London and Paris to help you decide.

Tips For Visiting London Especially for First Timers

If you’re planning a trip to London for the first time, it’s natural to feel both excited and overwhelmed at the prospect of exploring this amazing city. Here are some tips to help the first time visitors to London make the most of their trip:

Plan ahead – London is a large and bustling city, so it’s important to plan in advance. Research the attractions you want to see and map out your route to make the most of your time. Purchasing a Go City, Big Bus Tour or Tiquets websites can help you plan your itinerary and maximize your stay.

Invest in a travel pass – London has an extensive public transportation system, including buses and the famous Tube. Consider buying an Oyster card or a travel pass to save money and make getting around the city easier.

Pack for the weather – London weather can be unpredictable. One day it’s sunny and then the next it’s cloudy and rainy. In the summer you are more likely to see the sun, but no matter what the forecast is, be prepared for rain, wind, and chilly temperatures. Pack layers that are easy to remove, a raincoat, and comfortable shoes.

Mind the gap – If you’re taking the Tube, be sure to pay attention to the “mind the gap” warning when boarding and exiting trains. The gaps between the platform and the train can be quite large.

Check out the culinary scene – London has a vibrant and diverse food scene catering to all tastes and budgets. You’ll definitely want to try traditional British fare like fish and chips or a Sunday roast at a local gastro pub but don’t overlook the international culinary scene. London’s Indian food scene, for example, is considered some of the best outside of India (Chutney Mary is a favorite). From trendy street food markets to high-end Michelin-starred restaurants, London has it all.

Take a walking tour – London is a great city for walking, and there are many guided walking tours available to help you explore the city’s neighborhoods and landmarks.

How many days do you need to visit London for the first time?

It’s really going to depend on your personal preferences and interests, but typically, a first-time visitor to London would need about 4 to 5 days to see all the city’s major attractions and have a good taste of what the city has to offer.

This allows enough time to visit popular sites like Buckingham Palace, the British Museum, the Tower of London, and the National Gallery, while also taking time for afternoon tea, shopping, dining, and exploring the city’s neighborhoods.

The first time I visited London we only stayed for 3 nights. London is an expensive city so my wallet was happier, but we could have easily stayed longer without getting bored. Ultimately, the amount of time needed will heavily depend on your budget and interests.

Shopping in London is a must-do experience for any girl’s trip. Whether you’re looking for luxury goods, vintage finds, or unique souvenirs, you’ll find them in London. From world-famous department stores to quaint boutiques and lively markets, there are countless opportunities to indulge in some retail therapy!

Here are some of the best shopping destinations in London that you won’t want to miss!

• Oxford Street is the busiest shopping street in Europe.
• Covent Garden is a charming and vibrant area known for its street performers, trendy boutiques, and independent shops.
• Westfield Shopping Centres: With two locations in London, Westfield Stratford City and Westfield London, you’ll find hundreds of shops and restaurants, as well as a cinema, bowling alley, and ice-skating rink.

Like all major cities, London is rich in history, culture, and architecture. There are so many sights to see that would fit any type of traveler, even when on a girls trip to London.

Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the Queen and a symbol of the British monarchy. You can watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony, take a tour of the staterooms, or enjoy the view of the palace from outside the gates.

The Tower of London is a historic castle and former royal palace that is now home to the Crown Jewels. You can take a tour of the castle, see the famous ravens, and learn about the history of the royal family.

Big Ben is one of London’s most iconic landmarks and is now officially known as the Elizabeth Tower. Visitors can tour the Houses of Parliament, admire the clock tower, and learn about the history of the British government.

The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel that offers breathtaking views of the city. Enjoy panoramic views of London from 135 meters above the ground.

St. Paul’s Cathedral is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and one of the most famous landmarks in London.

Take a Big Bus Tour of London

When we visit a large city we always purchase a ticket for the Big Bus tours. In my opinion, it’s the best way to get around and you get a narrated tour at the same time! The Big Bus Tour in London is particularly great because it includes a one-way 30-minute river cruise on the Thames River.

If it wasn’t for our Big Bus tour we never would have been able to see as much as we did in such a short amount of time. It’s one of my favorite activities when we’re sightseeing!

3. Enjoy a show in the West End

The West End is the heart of London’s theater scene (referred to as “Theatreland”) and a must-visit destination for any culture lover. With about 40 or so world-famous theaters, a diverse range of shows, and some of the best actors and performers in the world, a night at the theater is perfect for a girls trip to London.

But the West End is not only about the theater, you’ll also find many restaurants, shops, entertainment and nightclubs. There’s also many sights to see like Picadilly Circus or The National Gallery.

4. Visit the London Markets

From food markets to vintage markets, London is full of diverse markets. Here are some of the top markets to visit on your girls’ trip to London.

Borough Market is one of London’s oldest and most famous food markets, offering a wide range of food and drink from around the world. Sample delicious street food, buy fresh ingredients for a picnic, or simply enjoy a coffee and people-watch.

Camden Market is one of London’s most vibrant and eclectic markets, offering a wide range of vintage clothing, handmade crafts, and street food. Explore the market’s many stalls, admire the street art, and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Portobello Road Market is one of London’s largest and most famous antique markets, offering a wide range of vintage and antique items.

Spitalfields Market is a bustling indoor market that offers a wide range of food, clothing, and handmade crafts. Enjoy street food, buy fresh produce, and explore the market’s many stalls and shops.

Brick Lane Market is a vibrant market where you can sample delicious curries, browse vintage clothing, and admire the street art that covers the surrounding buildings.

5. A Traditional British Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea is a quintessentially British experience that is perfect for a girls’ trip to London. Head to a traditional tea room or hotel to enjoy a spread of sandwiches, scones, and pastries, accompanied by a pot of tea… and if you’re feeling fancy a nice glass of champagne.

But don’t get it mixed up with High Tea. Afternoon tea is an indulgent experience that involves savoring a selection of sandwiches, pastries, and scones, all washed down with a pot of tea. High Tea is more of a light supper that includes a heavier meal of meat or fish.

Here are some of the best places to enjoy afternoon tea in London:

The Ritz London is one of the city’s most iconic and luxurious hotels, and its afternoon tea is an experience. You’ll need to dress to impress to enjoy the spread which is served on fine china, in the hotel’s stunning Palm Court.

The Savoy is another of London’s iconic hotels, and its afternoon tea is a popular and much-loved tradition. You’ll enjoy the experience in the hotel’s elegant Thames Foyer.

Fortnum & Mason is a high-end department store that is famous for its afternoon tea. If you’re looking for a charming and traditional experience head to the store’s stunning Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon.

The Berkeley is a chic and stylish hotel in the heart of Knightsbridge, and its afternoon tea is a must-do activity for any foodie.

The National Gallery is one of the largest art museums in the world and home to some of the greatest masterpieces of Western European art, including works by da Vinci, Botticelli, and Van Gogh.

The Tate Modern is London’s premier modern art museum, and is home to an impressive collection of contemporary art.

The Natural History Museum is one of London’s most famous science museums, where you can explore the museum’s vast collection of specimens, including the famous Diplodocus skeleton.

The Science Museum is a fascinating museum dedicated to the history of science and technology. You’ll find the first jet engine, the first computer, and the first light bulb.

London is a green city, full of stunning parks and gardens that offer a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Taking a stroll in one of London’s parks is the perfect way to relax and unwind on your girls’ trip.

We spent 4 nights in Paris and we loved every minute of it! It was a jam-packed few days and we did a lot of activities s0 I’ve compiled a list of 8 must-do activities for your next girls trip to Paris.

I’ve got you covered from sipping champagne atop the Eiffel Tower to indulging in the city’s famous patisseries. These activities are everything you need to get the girls together for a fun weekend!

What to do on a girls weekend in Paris?

1. Enjoy a Night Out on the Town at a Parisian Cabaret

Paris is a city that is famous for its nightlife, and one of the most iconic forms of nighttime entertainment in the city is, of course, the cabaret. A night out at a Parisian cabaret is a must-do experience for anyone visiting the city, especially for a fun night out with your girlfriends!

One of the most famous cabarets in Paris is the iconic Moulin Rouge, located in the Montmartre neighborhood. The Moulin Rouge has been entertaining guests for over 130 years, and its signature can-can dance has become a symbol of Parisian nightlife.

Make sure to book your tickets in advance as tickets sell out quickly. And don’t forget to dress up and enjoy a glass of champagne as you immerse yourself in the glitz and glamour!

2. Explore the Hidden Speakeasy Bars of Paris

Paris is a city that is rich in history and culture, but it’s also home to the most unique and intriguing speakeasy bars in the world. Here are some fun ones that you should consider checking out on your girls trip to Paris.

Moonshiner – to enter, you must first walk through a pizza shop and locate the hidden door disguised as a walk-in refrigerator.

Little Red Door – is located in the Marais district. This speakeasy takes its name from the red door that leads you inside.

Lavomatic – will take you back to the roaring 20s and is located behind a laundromat and requires a secret code to enter.

Experimental Cocktail Club – is a dimly lit space that offers a sophisticated atmosphere and an impressive selection of craft cocktails.

3. Have a Picnic in a Beautiful Park or Garden

Paris is known for its stunning parks and gardens, and enjoying a picnic in one of these beautiful green spaces is a perfect way to relax and take in the natural beauty of the city. Pack some delicious French cheese, a fresh baguette, and a bottle of wine, and you’ll have the perfect Parisian picnic.

• Jardin du Luxembourg
• Parc des Buttes-Chaumont
• Promenade Plantée or Coulée verte René-Dumont
• Jardin des Tuileries 

4. Indulge in a Croissant and Coffee at a Charming Cafe

Taking a moment to savor a warm, buttery croissant and a piping hot cup of coffee at a charming Parisian café is the perfect way to recharge during a day of sightseeing. With an endless selection of cafes to choose from, each with its own individual charm and personality, you can find cozy cafes on nearly every street corner.

Some of our favorite cafes include Angelina Paris and Le Cafe Marly. Angelina has the best hot chocolate in Paris, but we also enjoyed the food, the French toast was the most amazing thing I have ever put in my mouth.

Get to Angelina early as there is a line out the door. However, the line at the Rue de Rivoli location seemed to move quickly and the wait is definitely worth it. If you don’t want to sit down for a meal, you can skip the line to visit the shop and grab some hot chocolate and a macaron (or any other patisserie) to go.

But just so you know, don’t expect amazing food at Le Cafe Marly. The only thing that makes it worth it is the view. We didn’t really like their hot chocolate or coffee, so I recommend just ordering pastries and enjoying the scenery. If you do decide to go, try to get a table outside and go early to avoid the crowds.

5. Visit the Iconic Eiffel Tower and Take in the Views

No trip to Paris is complete without a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower. We lucked out and got a free climbing tour with ExperienceFirst included with our Go City Paris Pass.

Our group was small and the tour guide gave us some cool tidbits about the tower, like how it was originally painted red! The guide took us up to the first and second floors, but we decided to splurge and pay the extra 15 euros each for the lift to the summit. Trust me, it was totally worth it.

To secure your spot for the climbing tour, you’ll want to reserve a preferred time slot on the ExperienceFirst website as soon as possible since the tours tend to fill up fast. It was at this time that we upgraded our tour to include the lift to the summit.

With ExperienceFirst, we didn’t have to worry about purchasing tickets separately – all we had to do was show up with our Go City Paris Pass and they handled everything else for us.

It’s quite a trek to get to the first and second floors, but don’t worry, there are plenty of restrooms and places to grab a bite to eat or drink on each floor. And once you make it to the summit, you can treat yourself to some caviar and champagne if you’re feeling extra fancy!

6. Explore the Artistic Masterpieces at the Louvre Museum

The Louvre Museum is one of the most famous and iconic museums in the world, and it’s a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Paris. Located in the heart of the city, you’ll find some of the most famous and significant artistic masterpieces in human history like the “Mona Lisa”.

But be warned the Louvre is huge. It used to be a palace and you can spend weeks there without seeing everything there is to see. We spent 3 hours on one floor and I was exhausted.

As one of the most famous museums in the world, the Louvre can be quite busy, but make a reservation in advance and pick up a museum pass which can be included in your Go City Paris pass. By entering the museum through the Carrousel du Louvre (below the pyramid), which is a shopping mall that has the museum entrance at the end, you can skip the crowds that usually enter from above.

7. Take a Boat Cruise on the Seine River

One of my favorite ways to experience the beauty of Paris is by taking a boat cruise along the Seine River. The Seine flows through the heart of the city, and a boat tour offers a unique perspective on some of Paris’s most famous landmarks.

We took a roundtrip cruise on the Seine from near the Eiffel Tower which was also included in our Go City Paris passes. During the Seine River cruise, we enjoyed stunning views of famous landmarks while taking some much needed time to sit and relax.

There are many different types of Seine River cruises available, from short daytime tours to romantic evening dinner cruises. Some tours even include live music or entertainment, which can add to the ambiance, making it a great girls weekend activity.

8. Learn about French Wine

French wine is pretty famous. Did you know that Champagne can only be called Champagne if it’s made in the Champagne region of France? Yep! So if you find yourself in France for a girls weekend in Paris then it’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about the wine culture and traditions and also sip a little while you’re at.

Wine has been an integral part of French culture for centuries, and there are many different regions throughout the country that produce unique and delicious varieties of wine. One of the best ways to learn about French wine is by taking a wine tasting tour.

On our mother daughter trip to Paris we took part in a complimentary wine tour at Les Caves du Louvre also courtesy of our Go City Paris all inclusive passes. Included was a sample of 3 wines and a tour of their historic royal cellar while learning all about French wine. It was a fun experience and at the end of the tour, they will help you choose wine from their traditional French wine shop, Ô Chateau, which you can take with you or have shipped to your home.

Is Paris good for a girls trip?

Paris is an excellent destination for a girls trip, it has a unique blend of culture, history, food, and fashion. One of the reasons why Paris is such a popular destination is its reputation for romance, beauty, and elegance.

But Paris isn’t just about fashion and romance. The city also has a rich cultural history, with numerous museums, galleries, and landmarks to explore. It’s the perfect backdrop for photo ops, it’s not hard to find a great photo spot away from crowds.

So, if you’re looking to stroll through the city’s picturesque neighborhoods, enjoy a glass of wine or coffee at a local café, and indulge in delicious cuisine, a weekend in Paris will do the trick.

Is it worth going to Paris for a weekend?

Absolutely! Paris is a city that’s worth visiting for any length of time, even just a weekend. While it’s true that you won’t be able to see everything the city has to offer in such a short time, you can still make the most of your visit by planning and prioritizing. Plus, there’s something exciting about trying to fit in as much as possible in a short amount of time!

One way to make the most of your time in Paris is to focus on what interests you the most. Whether it’s art, food, history, or something else entirely, you can’t go wrong in Paris. And don’t forget about the convenience of a city pass, purchasing a Go City Paris pass can give you access to multiple attractions for a discounted price so you can make the most out of your time.

So again, YES! A weekend trip to Paris is absolutely worth it. You’ll come away with unique experiences, incredible memories, and the desire to come back for more.

When I took my mom to Paris for the first time, we had a blast exploring the city together and making some unforgettable memories. Seeing her face light up when we caught our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower was a moment I’ll never forget.

Whether you’re interested in art, history, or simply strolling through the city’s beautiful gardens and parks, Paris is the perfect destination for a mother daughter trip. You’ll make cherished memories with your mother or daughter and a newfound love for an amazing city.

What is the best area to stay in Paris for a weekend

Choosing the perfect area to stay in Paris for a weekend trip can make a big difference in your overall experience of the city. While there are many neighborhoods in Paris that offer their own unique charm and area attractions, some areas are better suited for a short stay than others.

Of course, the best location for you will depend on what you plan to visit and whether you intend to use public transportation. For example, during our recent visit to Paris, we wanted to stay within walking distance of the Louvre Museum and other popular tourist spots.

That’s why we chose to stay at Novotel Paris Les Halles, located just behind the Châtelet–Les Halles transit station with easy access to both the Paris RER and Metro lines. We found the Navigo weekly pass, which we purchased once we arrived at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, to be a convenient and cost-effective way to travel around the city.

Our Go City Paris Pass also included a Big Bus Tour which allowed us to easily explore the city. I love a good hop-on-hop-off bus when I visit a new city because it allows us to discover at our own pace and get off at any stop that piqued our interest.

The bus tour also included an audio guide that provided interesting commentary and information about the history and significance of each location we passed. It was definitely a convenient and efficient way to explore Paris during our weekend stay.

Luckily, there are ways to experience the magic of Disneyland Paris on a budget and I’m here to help! In this guide, I’ll share my top tips for enjoying Disneyland Paris on a budget.

From planning your trip with a smart budget in mind to choosing the best time to visit, and from staying in stylish yet affordable accommodations to savvy dining and souvenir shopping, you’ll have what you need to plan your dream trip to Disneyland Paris!

Visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget

Plan Ahead and Set a Budget

Planning ahead and setting a budget are two important steps to take before visiting any destination, and this is especially true when it comes to visiting Disneyland Paris. The park offers a wide range of attractions, entertainment, and dining options, and having a plan and budget in place can help you make the most of your visit while avoiding overspending.

First, decide on the length of your stay and which attractions and experiences you want to prioritize. Disneyland Paris has two theme parks, so it’s important to plan which rides and shows you want to see in advance. Research the park’s website and look at the attraction list to help you prioritize.

Next, you want to set a realistic budget that includes transportation, accommodation, park tickets, food, and souvenirs. Be sure to factor in the cost of meals and snacks while at the park, as well as any souvenirs or merchandise you might want to purchase.

Choose the Best Time to Visit

Choosing the best time to visit Disneyland Paris is important in order to maximize your enjoyment and avoid long lines and crowds. You’ll want to consider weather, school holidays, and special events while planning your trip.

One of the busiest times to visit Disneyland Paris is during the summer months, when schools are on break and families are taking vacations. If you have flexibility in your schedule, consider visiting during the off-season, which typically runs from January to March and from September to November. During this time, the park is typically less crowded and you may find better deals on accommodations and tickets.

We visited at the end of March and although it was cold and somewhat cloudy the parks were definitely not at capacity. There were of course still crowds, but it was much more manageable than during the busiest time of year.

You’ll also want to check the park’s calendar for any special events or seasonal offerings that may impact your visit. For example, the park hosts Halloween and Christmas celebrations that include special parades, shows, and decorations. These events can be popular and attract large crowds, so it’s important to plan accordingly.

Lastly, consider visiting the park on weekdays rather than weekends, as weekends tend to be busier with larger crowds. We visited on a Wednesday and Thursday, prices shot up during Friday-Sunday.

Don’t stay on Disney property and use public transportation

First off, Disneyland Paris is not technically in Paris. It’s located outside of Paris in Chessy, France. We took the TGV high speed train from CDG airport to Chessy. It’s the first stop and takes about 12 mins. The ticket was 19 euros each.

Staying on Disney property can be a magical experience, but it can also be very expensive. Choosing to stay at a hotel or accommodation outside of the park can be a great way to save money during your visit to Disneyland Paris.

One great option is to stay in Val d’Europe, a nearby town that’s only one stop away from Disneyland Paris on the RER train. We chose to stay at the Moxy Paris Val d’Europe, a stylish Marriott property located only a five-minute walk from the train station. This option allowed us to save a lot of money, while still being close to the park.

The Moxy is not only affordable but also unique and trendy. Their check-in process takes place at the bar, and they even offer complimentary welcome drinks. The overall vibe and decor of the hotel are also really nice for it being so affordable.

If you’re considering staying outside of Disneyland Paris, make sure to look for accommodations near an RER train station. The RER train system provides direct access to Disneyland Paris from the Paris city center, with trains running frequently.

You may also want to consider purchasing a Navigo Pass, which provides unlimited access to public transportation throughout your stay in Paris. Make sure the pass is valid for the dates of your stay before purchasing. Choosing to stay outside of the park can be a great way to save money, without sacrificing convenience or comfort.

Bring Your Own Snacks and Drinks

When visiting theme parks, there are usually many food options available, but they can be expensive and add up quickly. Bringing your own snacks and drinks is a great way to save money while still enjoying your visit to the park.

At Disneyland Paris, the food may not meet the expectations if you are used to the food at Walt Disney World. However, there are some good options available, such as a quick service spot on Main Street that serves decent sandwiches and salads.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed when we tried the sit-down buffet-style Pym Kitchen in the Avengers Campus at Walt Disney Studios Park. The food was either not appetizing or too Americanized (American food should not exist outside of America), and it was quite expensive. If you’ve already been to the Pym Kitchen in California Adventure, you should skip this one.

To save money, it’s best to bring your own snacks, such as fruit, granola bars, sandwiches, and crackers. However, there are some restrictions on outside food and drinks within the park, such as glass containers and alcoholic beverages, so it’s important to check the park’s policies before bringing anything in.

Don’t Overdo Souvenir Shopping

I know that it’s tempting to buy a bunch of souvenirs when visiting at Disney park, but this can easily add up since of course everything is super expensive.

To avoid overspending on souvenirs, I’d recommend setting a budget for yourself before your trip and stick to it. Maybe restrict yourself to one big purchase and one small purchase for the trip. But don’t go buying stuff that you can get at any Disney park.

Before your trip, check out what they have on Shop Disney. You may be able to find some stuff on sale and pay through a shopping portal like Rakuten or Topcashback to save some money by getting cash back.

Essentials for Disneyland Paris

When visiting Disneyland Paris, you should be prepared with the right essentials to make your trip as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. Here are some must-have items to pack for your visit:

Comfortable Shoes – You’ll be doing a lot of walking and standing, so wear comfortable shoes.

Weather-Appropriate Clothing – Check the weather forecast before your trip and pack a poncho in the case of rain. I also like to bring extra socks, sweats and undies in case I get wet on a ride.

Sun Protection – the worst is coming home with a sunburn from standing in the sun all day.

Backpack or Bag – Bring a reasonably sized backpack or bag to carry your stuff, such as snacks, drinks, and souvenirs.

Phone Charger – Phone batteries die fast at theme park even if you think you won’t be using it that much. So, bring a portable charger or extra charging cable.

Cash or Credit Card – You won’t need a lot of cash as pretty much every place in the park will take credit card, but it’s good to have some on hand in case your card does not go through. You won’t need to pay to use any of the toilettes on Disney property.

Is Disneyland Paris as good as Florida?

As an annual pass holder for Walt Disney World in Florida, I will say that Disneyland Paris is absolutely not as good as Florida.

But with that being said, it’s not fair to compare. Both Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World in Florida offer unique experiences and have their own charm.

Walt Disney World in Florida is significantly larger than Disneyland Paris, with four theme parks, two water parks, and a plethora of other attractions and activities. The sheer size and scale of Walt Disney World are pretty overwhelming, but it also means that there is a lot more to see and do.

Although Disneyland Paris may not have as many attractions as Walt Disney World, its smaller size and more compact layout can make it feel more manageable and easier to navigate. Additionally, the park’s blend of European and American influences creates a unique atmosphere that sets it apart from other Disney parks.

Ultimately, whether Disneyland Paris is as good as Walt Disney World in Florida depends on what you’re looking for. You’ll find attractions at Disneyland Paris that you won’t find at Walt Disney World in Florida and vice versa.

But do yourself a favor and don’t compare Disneyland Paris to Walt Disney World in Florida. You’re just setting yourself up for failure.

Is Disneyland Paris cheaper than Florida?

The cost of visiting Disneyland Paris versus Disney World in Florida can vary depending on several factors, such as travel dates, the type of tickets purchased, accommodation choices, and dining options.

Compared to Disney World in Florida, Disneyland Paris generally tends to be less expensive. This is in part due to its smaller size and fewer parks and attractions, which can result in lower ticket prices and other costs.

However, it’s important to note that Disneyland Paris has fewer on-property accommodations, which can make lodging costs more expensive compared to some options at Walt Disney World in Florida.

But as we’ll discuss in this post, there are ways to get around how expensive Disneyland Paris can be.

Is one day enough for Disneyland Paris

Figuring out whether one day is enough for Disneyland Paris largely depends on your individual plans for the trip. If you’re primarily interested in experiencing the attractions unique to Disneyland Paris, you may be able to fit everything into one day.

However, if you’re looking to fully immerse yourself in the park’s atmosphere, enjoy the various shows, and take your time exploring, you may want to consider extending your trip. We did both Disneyland Paris parks in one day and honestly, that was more than enough for me (I was ready to explore more of France), but again we’re annual passholders for Walt Disney World so that was a huge factor.

Is Disneyland Paris worth a trip?

If you’re a Disney fan and have ambitions to visit all the parks around the world, then Disneyland Paris is definitely worth the trip.

For those who haven’t had the opportunity to visit Disney parks in the U.S., Disneyland Paris is also worth the trip.

But if you have been to the parks in the U.S. and are hoping for a similar experience at Disneyland Paris, you may be disappointed. In this case, it may be best to skip the park, particularly if you have limited time to explore Paris and France.

If I could do it again, I would purchase a one-park ticket to the Disneyland Park to see the iconic castle and enjoy the spectacular fireworks and light show. The castle is stunning and I loved that you can walk around inside. Plus, there’s a dragon underneath the castle, which is also fun.

However, the Walt Disney Studios park may not be worth a visit, especially if you’ve already experienced the Avengers campus in California Adventure. Ultimately, it’s important to manage expectations and prioritize the experiences that are most important to you.
